Dampier To Big DWhich stands for "Dallas", as opposed to
"Duluth", or "Duxbury" (both of which might have thriving CBA franchises today
if Isiah Thomas hadn't bankrupted the league). From the Associated Press :
The Warriors and Mavericks are close to completing a five-player trade that would send centers Erick Dampier, Evan Eschmeyer and guard Dan Dickau to Dallas and forwards Eduardo Najera and Christian Laettner to Golden State, an NBA source aware of the negotiations told The Associated Press Tuesday night. The trade is contingent on Dampier reaching agreement with the Mavericks, the source said. Dampier, 30, opted out of his contract with the Warriors in late June and became a free agent. The 6-11 veteran met with the Knicks and several other teams in recent weeks. He reportedly has a six-year, $50-million offer on the table from the Atlanta Hawks. I certainly hope this trade becomes official, at least the Christian Laettner portion of it. I've long hoped to run the headline "DICKAU SWAPPED FOR DICKHEAD" and this could be my last chance.
