Cris Kirkwood Shot
Today's Arizona Republic has the latest bit of
sad news concerning
former Meat Puppets bassist Cris Kirkwood, who was shot last Friday following an
altercation outside a Phoenix, AZ post
office.
Kirkwood, whose drug woes were detailed in a 1999 Austin Chronicle interview with his brother and former bandmate Curt is in critical condition in a Phoenix hospital.
Older types will note that long before becoming fixtures on the Howard Stern show or recording two brutally dull major label albums, the Meat Puppets were pretty fucking amazing. 'Meat Puppets II' and 'Up On The Sun' are landmarks of mind-bending guitar work.
