Peyton Fought The Law...

...and Ty Law Won

Words like "genius" and "fashion atrocity" are thrown around far too often when discussing successful coaches in the NFL, but has anyone achieved so much with so few offensive weapons at his disposal as New England's Bill Belichick? OK, Brian Billick comes to mind (though some of Ray Lewis' weapons are highly offensive if you get stuck with them). With at week to find an answer to Indy's white hot QB Peyton Manning, New England's secondary made Archie's MVP son look like Taryn Manning, tallying 4 interceptions (three by Ty Law) and four sacks in yesterday's AFC Championship. The Patriots 24-14 win over the Colts puts them in the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in 3 years, 3rd time in 8, the sort of numbers impossible to imagine for this franchise a generation ago.

There's bound to be some complaints from the Colts that their receivers were held throughout the day and while there's truth to such claims, Manning was pursued early and often and several of his throws were poorly forced. The Patriots have now won 14 straight, including 2 wins apiece over the Titans and Colts --- regardless of who wins the Eagles/Panthers NFC matchup, New England should enter Super Bowl XXXVIII as the prohibitive faves.

There is no truth to the rumor that the Super Bowl pregame entertainment will include a performance by the reunited Urge Overkill.
