Bradshaw Coughs Up The Truth

His rants on Fox are migrane inducing, his current ads for Hooters with Lee Corso are world-record dopey and it has been years since I could tell the difference between the Steelers QB and Jerry Reed. But Terry Bradshaw knows the score on the Giants' Tom Coughlin, writes Newsday's Steve Zipay.

On Sunday's pregame show, after hearing a report from Fox's Jay Glazer about four Giants being fined for arriving early -- but not early enough -- for meetings, Bradshaw went ballistic.

"There's no way I could play for Coughlin," Bradshaw said. "He is mean and hateful. You take veteran players like [Michael] Strahan and fine them for showing up early? There's a little part of me that hopes this guy falls flat on his face because that's a total lack of respect for the players ... I'm realizing this guy is just a jerk."

Bradshaw, the Steelers Hall of Famer, has previously suggested that Coughlin should simply have started Eli Manning, the team's No. 1 pick, over Kurt Warner and not just throw him into a game when Warner falters.

"What difference does it make? Philadelphia can beat you up, Minnesota can beat you up, the Cowboys can beat you up," Bradshaw said a few days before Sunday's opener.

After seeing Manning "have a decent half in preseason," Bradshaw said, "if you're going to rebuild up there and you've got this coach who is kind of a taskmaster, maybe you jump that kid in there.

"Why not? Let him get his scars and get ready to play and he'll be a better man for it. I would've gone ahead and played him."
