GM's to Go (and stay). No permission needed to talk to Syd
Thrift
While the Mets' General Manager situation remains
unresolved --- Omar Minaya still mulling over the offer to work alongside
or slightly underneath Jim Duquette, things aren't any clearer in
Seattle. The Mariners have been denied permission to talk to A's GM
Billy Beane, who may or may not be in line to take the LA job
depending on who you're reading.
Meanwhile, the Reds are about to hire Dan O'Brien, currently John Hart's assistant in Texas. Presumably O'Brien's history in Seattle and Houston is the part of his CV that makes him attractive, though if he had anything to do with finding a taker for Carl Everett this year, he's probably overqualified.
