Post ALCS Violence In LAHoneymoon or not, CSTB's Southern California
correspondent Ben Schwartz takes a bite out of crime.
This weekend I spent my (much too short) honeymoon at the Hilton Checkers hotel in LA. A nice place, but I noticed that the floor-to-ceiling lobby mirror had been smashed around the elevator call button. I asked the bell captain what happened. Apparently, after game six of the ALCS, an enraged Yankee fan in the bar kicked the elevator call button so hard that it shattered the mirror. They have security cam coverage of this native New Yorker, who actually made a quick premeditating prowl of the lobby before making his understandably bitter feelings known. The LAPD are currently looking for this "perp" (as they call them on CSI), and if anyone sees a surly guy with glass in his shoe talking about how A-Rod was robbed, please call 911.
