Yankees Target Vazquez, ColonBoston sets sights on Escobar
the NY Times' Tyler Kepner reports that Yankee
braintrust have targeted free agent Bartolo Colon and Montreal's Javier Vasquez
as the start of their off-season wish list. The team is also keen
to keep Andy Pettitte, but seem willing to let the pitcher negotiate with
Houston, the suspicion being that the Astros can't or won't offer Pettitte
anything close to his market value.
The Red Sox, who reportedly contacted Pettitte's representatives earlier in the week, have supposedly moved on to free-agent Kelvim Escobar. Escobar, who likes home movies, has also been mentioned as a new addition to the Mets. In any event, it seems unlikely that he'll be returning to Toronto in the aftermath of the Blue Jays' acquisitions of Ted Lilly and Pat Hentgen. Posted: Thu - November 20, 2003 at 01:04 PM |
