When I read of the possible Cedeno for Cirillo swap, I figured the latter would be a substitute for Ty Wigginton and an occasional pinch hitter. Perhaps not.

Today's unsubstantiated buzzy buzz has the Mets trading 3B Wigginton to the Red Sox for reliever Scott Williamson. Ty would move to 2B in Boston, Williamson, expendable with the acquisition of Keith Foulke, becomes NY's new closer. And Jeff Cirillo is your starting 3B for the Mets. I'm shuddering at the thought, but perhaps that's just the killer flu.

The Mets have a serious 3B prospect in David Wright, but he's yet to reach Binghamton. Is Cirillo playing every day, hitting 8th and batting .200 worth gaining a closer the caliber of Williamson?
