Where's Curt's God Now?Will Carroll quotes an unnamed source as saying
there's little chance of Boston's Curt Schilling pitching again in the
World Series. Actually, the full quote is a little more stomach-turning, so go
read it for yourself.
Presuming the Cardinals are able to force a 6th game at Fenway, Bronson Arroyo would figure to get the call. If matters progressed to a 7th game, Pedro Martinez would have a shot at winning (or losing) the Series in what in all likelihood would be his final appearance for the Red Sox. Not that he likes drama, or anything. Of course, for what other team holding a 2-0 advantage in a best-of-seven series would we be contemplating a 7th game loss? I'll spend the rest of the morning repenting for such defeatist thinking by working on an water-color painting of Mark Bellhorn accepting the World Series MVP trophy, along with the keys to Tom Brady's car.
