World Series Game Three : Manny Off The HR Schneid

Boston 1, St. Louis 0 (middle of the first).

No sooner did Buck & McCarver tip Manny Ramirez to bust out in a big way, Boston's hitting savant sent a Jeff Suppan pitch into the left field seats. Playoff shares for the mouthy pair!

Bottom of the first update : Pedro escapes a bases loaded jam, Manny throwing out Larry Walker trying to score on Jim Edmonds' fly to shallow left. Great fucking throw by Ramirez (no more jokes about his fielding for at least 10 minutes), and a fine job by Jason Varitek blocking the plate and forcing Walker to slide to his far right. A 23 pitch first inning for Martinez, so the pen should be up early.

Bottom of the Third : Jeff Suppan manages to run the Cards out of a 2nd & 3rd, no out situation. The St. Louis pitcher failed to score from 3rd when Larry Walker grouned out to Bill Mueller, and then found himself hung up halfway to the plate. David Ortiz --- not quite Keith Hernandez at first base, easily nailed Suppan diving back. The Cardinals have let Pedro off the hook twice tonight, and if Tony LaRussa wanted to step on Steve Kline's neck earlier this year, lord knows what he's got planned for Suppan.
