Which event would you have said would happened before The Old Towne Team would not only beat the New York Highlanders in a 7 game series but do it after falling behind 3 games to nil? Last night was one of the most stunning nights in the history of organized sports. The Highlanders, the organization that like to brag about their success (have you ever heard that they are the 26 time World Champions?) and rub our noses in it and their fans became the family that we thought was the envy of the neighborhood but has many skeletons in their closet.

The Highlander organization can no longer boast about being the “26 time World Champions” without adding the addendum “That also blew the biggest lead in baseball history”. Get use to it Highlander fans, as you know there will be about a zillion books written about this series. I’m sure Ken Burns or the folks at Black Canyon Productions are writing the script for an award winning documentary. When the next volume of Great Moments in Baseball History comes out the Great Highlander Collapse will be the lead story.
