World Series Game Three : Pedro, UntouchableBoston 4, St. Louis 0 (middle of the
8th)
![]() After Jeff Suppan's baserunning gaffe killed the Cards in the 3rd, Pedro settled into a groove, retiring the next 12 in a row. Scott Rolen is hitless for the night and 0 for 10 for the series. Somewhere, Larry Bowa is sticking pins in a little doll. Chris Myers' interview with Budweiser's fictitious Leon (rhymes with "Deion") was probably not the highlight of the former's journalism career. Hey, it's their company and who am I to tell them what to do, but doesn't it seem like overkill for News Corp. to agree to such a bogus setup just to ensure that Phil Mushnick would have something to write about tomorrow? Update : Boston 4, St. Louis 1 (final). Perhaps Mike Timlin oughta wait until the Red Sox win for the fourth time before videotaping a postgame celebration? For those who love such factoids, Tony La Russa has now lost 7 straight World Series games. As the saying goes, you have to be a pretty good manager to be in a position to lose 7 consecutive World Series games. But you might have to be a little bit better to win just one of them.
