After Jeff Suppan's baserunning gaffe killed the Cards in the 3rd, Pedro settled into a groove, retiring the next 12 in a row. Scott Rolen is hitless for the night and 0 for 10 for the series. Somewhere, Larry Bowa is sticking pins in a little doll.

Chris Myers' interview with Budweiser's fictitious Leon (rhymes with "Deion") was probably not the highlight of the former's journalism career. Hey, it's their company and who am I to tell them what to do, but doesn't it seem like overkill for News Corp. to agree to such a bogus setup just to ensure that Phil Mushnick would have something to write about tomorrow?

Perhaps Mike Timlin oughta wait until the Red Sox win for the fourth time before videotaping a postgame celebration?

For those who love such factoids, Tony La Russa has now lost 7 straight World Series games. As the saying goes, you have to be a pretty good manager to be in a position to lose 7 consecutive World Series games. But you might have to be a little bit better to win just one of them.
