World Series Game Two: Passion Of The Curt![]() Boston 6, St. Louis 2 8 errors in two games...and the Red Sox have won both. Jon Miller gave Joe Morgan what seemed like 10 minutes Saturday night to howl (again) about how Boston "puts everything into a computer". Aside from that claim not being entirely true (ie. Boston still employ scouts), I'm wondering which computer in Theo Epstein's arsenal showed Boston committing 4 errors a game and winning. Perhaps it was this one :
(the guy on the left will be the next GM of the Yankees. The fellow on the right, the next head of baseball operations for the Phillies. Neither have played baseball at any organized level and both look forward to debating Joe Morgan at his earliest convenience). Though most thinking persons are a little tired of Curt Schilling's glory-to-god postgame remarks (I guess God must really fucking hate the Cardinals), the right hander continues to defy logic. Schilling followed last week's ALCS Game 6 heroics against New York with a gutty performance against St. Louis (6 IP, no earned runs, 4 hits, 1 walk, 4 K's) that further solidifies his status as a God-like figure in New England (if you'll excuse the expression). Keith Foulke, looking untouchable in these playoffs, struck out Jim Edmonds in a key spot for the 2nd night in a row, this time with a runner on 2nd and the Cards trying to mount an 8th inning rally. St. Louis' Scott Rolen, Edmonds and Reggie Sanders were a combined 0 for 10, leaving runners stranded throughout the night. On one of the rare nights David Ortiz' didn't hit a huge HR, the Red Sox got major offensive contributions from Mark Bellhorn (double, 2 RBI), Orlando Cabrerra (2 RBI), Jason Varitek (triple, RBI). And Manny Ramirez is still due for a big night (unless you consider being hit in the head with a fly ball a big night, in which case he's not overdue at all. That could happen at any moment.)
