Korrection KornerIn one of today's earlier entries, I wrote of
the Red Sox' ALCS triumph, "Beating the Yankees is special, no doubt about it,
but New York's history of knocking Boston out of the playoffs goes back a whole
5 years."
Writes Jaime , "actually, the Yankees have been knocking the Sox out of the playoffs since 1949, counting 1-game playoffs for the pennant. throw in 1978 and it certainly goes a little deeper than just 5 years." He is, of course, correct. On October 2, 1949, Boston lost the 155th game of the season, 5-3 at Yankee Stadium. And in 1978, well, the picture below might jog a memory or two. ![]() Posted: Thu - October 21, 2004 at 10:51 PM |
