"Hustle" - Casting Calamity

The nicest thing I can say about Peter Bogdanovich's "Hustle" is that it was easier to watch than ESPN's previous bio-pics about Bear Bryant and Bobby Knight.

Beyond that, it was horribly miscast. Tom Sizemore has been this column's whipping boy on numerous occasions and this time is no different. One of America's most predictable overactors turned it down a notch for once, but really came off no better than a poor Al Pacino mimic in a Beatle wig.

Anyone concerned that chain-smoking Nazi sympathizer Marge Schott would be harshly dealt with can fear not. Perhaps not wanting to terrify more sensitive viewers, an actress who looked nothing like the former Reds owner was utilized.
