At Least David Wells Reported To Camp In Midseason Form

Posted in Baseball at 9:58 pm by

Following in the footsteps of the slimmer, trimmer Jason Giambi, Sammy Sosa and Mike Piazza, Tigers C Ivan Rodriguez has arrived at spring training 22 pounds lighter than last year.

I-Rod, recently implicated in Jose Canseco’s tell-all, supposedly hasn’t weighed this little since his first season in the big leagues at the age of 19.

Millions of Americans struggling with their personal fitness should take note — there is apparently no greater catalyst for rapid, dramatic weight loss than being falsely accused of steroid use.

I dont think anybody is going to buy the “Aging catcher hitting the inevitable wall” argument if Pudges #s take a Giambi/Bret Boone type nosedive this coming season

  2. CSTB says:

except for, of course, the clubs that passed on him the last two times he was a free agent.

And it is possible for an aging catcher to hang in there as a productive player, ie. look at Benito Santiago.

    On second thought, never mind.

I’m sure Pudge isnt going say that he cut cheeseburgers out of his diet. Rodriguez better think quick and come up with something like “I lost the weight after seeing what it did for Javy Lopez” and deliver no less than slighty below his norm or better

I dunno, he could always claim he got tired of being called overweight on some loser’s blog. I hear that works wonders wonders for taking off the pounds (well, that and an eating disorder)
