ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that Larry Brown will not be returning to the Pistons’ bench this autumn.

Whether or not Detroit will allow Brown to pursue the job opening in New York remains to be seen, though there’s no truth to the rumor that Herb Williams was harrassing Joe Dumars all weekend with email messages pleading to keep Larry on the job (all signed “hstencil”).
