Rest In Peace, Dear Oft-Misunderstood Pioneer

Posted in Gridiron at 1:06 pm by

As you’ve probably read elsewhere, this weekend we’re mourning the loss of a Northern California icon/entrepreneur who did much in his heyday to transform our chosen brand of entertainment.  Occasionally ridiculed for his choice of attire, the epitome of “think different” at many stages of his illustrious career and an unapologetic control freak who drove subordinates, competitors and administrators crazy, it would not be an understatement to say he shaped his industry in ways so profound, it’s almost impossible to imagine where the business would be today without him.

But enough about Al Davis.  That Steve Jobs was really something, right?

My first game was the Raiders at home, Coliseum, hosting the Chiefs I think, when I was 7 or 8. Mom demanded that we leave after the row in front of us broke out in a fistfight. Good times
